Iris Almeida-Côté has for 30 years, occupied senior management positions in governmental and non-governmental organizations in the fields of education, strengthening democratic institutions, promotion of the rule of law and good governance. Iris Almeida-Côté is President at INNOVA Connect Inc, since March 2012. INNOVA offers strategic management services to organisations and senior executives and is an internationally recognised trainer in leadership development, branding, communications, audit processes, strategic planning, participatory evaluation and community and stakeholder engagement. She assists executives in the process of setting up international business partnerships and provides corporations sending staff on international assignments in Asia, Africa, Middle East and the Americas with training in Inter-cultural preparedness and risk management. One of her assignments includes responsibility for strategic management development at the International Association for Public Participation, and she manages the global operations with a dynamic team at the International Federation headquarters. Iris also served as Chief Executive Officer, Montreal and International at the TRIGONE Group from April 2012 to March 2013. She set up the Montreal office and assisted in building international partnerships with large companies in the Asia-Pacific region. On November 2nd 2012, TRIGONE received the Canada Award for Excellence, Silver prize for Quality at a ceremony presided over by His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada. From June 2009 to March 2012, she served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Canada World Youth. Iris Almeida-Côté was President and Chief Executive Officer at the Canadian Pension & Benefits Institute from 2006 to 2009, Director of Policies and Programs at the Parliamentary Centre for Rights and Democracy from 1991 to 2006, and Head of Programs at Partnership Africa Canada from 1988 to 1991. On an international level, she was Assistant Secretary General of CIDSE (Coopération Internationale pour le Développement et la Solidarité) in Brussels from 1986 to 1988, and President of the International Movement of University Students in Paris from 1982 to 1986. She has initiated major programs and strategic partnerships in 80 countries.
Iris Almeida-Côté holds a Master's Degree in International Law from the Université du Québec à Montréal (2001) as well as a Master's Degree in Sociology from the University of Bombay (1982). She received her advanced management training at the McGill Executive Institute in Montreal and at the Canadian Centre for Management in Ottawa. She is trained in Board Governance by the Institute on Governance for private and public organisations. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Saint-Justine Hospital, Chair of the Financial Audit Committee and member of the Governance Committee. She is Treasurer on the Board of Directors of Lawyers without Borders. An active the Canadian Society of Association Executives, she served on the Board of Directors for the past three years. She has been an adviser to the Conseil interculturel of the City of Montreal and member of the Orientation Committee of the Institut d'études internationales de Montréal at UQAM. She serves as President of the jury of the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards. Iris is also an active member in the Women and Finance Network.
In 2008 and again in 2011, Iris Almeida-Côté was the laureate of Canada's 100 Most Powerful Women Champion Award presented by the Women's Executive Network. In 2008, she was the laureate of the Prix d'Éxcellence presented by the Réseau des femmes d'affaires du Québec and in September 2009, she received the YWCA Women of Distinction Award.
